Acne!

If you're like most of us, you've probably had a bout or two with acne.  Any teenager can tell you that the anguish that goes with these nasty little bumps is detrimental to one's confidence.  Especially when he has it bad and the girl he likes doesn't. But acne isn't just for teenagers. There's also such a thing as Adult acne, and even infant acne. Fortunately we now have many solutions to this old-as-time affliction.

If you are one of the 80% of human beings affected by acne, whether it's pimples or blackheads or both, then you've probably toyed with one, or many, of over the counter, drugstore products, or even considered some of the more exotic remedies, such as the laser acne treatment.  Many of these treatments, while fighting the break-outs to a small extent, also cause dryness, redness, or itching.  Then you're stuck with additional problems.  The key is to find out what products are right for you and your skin type.

Many acne fighting treatments available today have active ingredients such as salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide, both of which are proven to fight acne.  Which type you use will depend on your own unique skin type, how the product feels, and so on.

Many topical acne creams contain benzoyl peroxide, which is a drying agent.  The goal is to dry up the oil-ridden skin, therefore vanquishing the pimples.  Salicylic acid, on the other hand, is an exfoliant.  Exfoliants are designed to slough dead skin cells from the face or body, in order to unclog pores, hence relieving breakout.  Several cleansers, toners, and pads are available with this active ingredient.

No matter what kind of acne you're afflicted with, it is always good to consult a dermatologist prior to treatment. Your dermatologist will be able to give you a good idea of which product will work best for your skin type and whether a prescription acne remedy might be the best choice. Oral treatments are available in addition to topical creams and gels.

A popular acne product on the market today is Proactive Solution, which can be purchased online or possibly at your local shopping mall.  Many devout users of this product swear by its effectiveness.  If you watch television, you surely know what I'm talking about.  If you are curious about ProActive, and virtually any other acne treatment, simply do an online search and you will be flooded with solutions to those stubborn, little bumps.

Whether you're afflicted with teenage blackheads and whiteheads, or merely some bothersome mild acne as an adult, you can certainly find a solution to your skin problems.  While acne affects most of us at one point or another in our hectic lives, whether it's brought on by hormones or stress, we don't have to just take it.

Acne can be a horrible shot to anyone's self-esteem, and should be dealt with before getting too severe.  In the wonderful world of technology we all share, there's no reason why you shouldn't take advantage of its innovations.
